 SCULPTURES IN CLAY

 

Clay is a truly magical medium to work with.

Not only is it versatile and organic, it transforms into a much more stronger structure and transforms completely wen fired.

 

My ceramic sculptures are generally created without any wires or moulds because it helps me to be intuitive and fluid. It is a harder practice but it is also very rewarding.

Most of my sculptures will be created in clay and fired when possible, as they are more durable when

they go to cast, either using the lost wax method at the foundry or Cold Cast Bronze, using resins and bronze powers.

 

Ceramics: The completed clay sculptures will sit for a few weeks to let out all the moisture before they go to the kiln and be fired, otherwise they would explode in the kiln.

Bronze methods: The completed clay sculptures will be either fired and cast or cast in their raw state to get cast if they are too big for the kiln or have armature in them which cannot be fired.
